Lead Pastor – Living Creek Christian Church
Reports to: Board of Elders
Status: Full-time
Overview
Living Creek Christian Church is seeking a Lead Pastor who passionately loves God and leads from a growing and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. He should be a leader who will preach, teach, and lead from the overflow of a life grounded in scripture and prayer. He should be someone who continues to grow in spiritual maturity, humility, and dependence on the Lord.
The Lead Pastor will serve as the primary spiritual leader of the church. He should be able to lead the church in its mission, to help people follow Jesus. This would include helping people take their first steps of faith, and encouraging the staff, leaders, and members of the church to continue to grow toward maturity.
Spiritual Life & Character
The Lead Pastor will:
- Maintian a consistent devoltional life through Scripture reading and prayer.
- Demonstrate integrity, humility, and Christlike character.
- Maintain a strong, healthy relationship with his wife and family, modeling Biblical priorities in home life.
Preaching, Teaching & Vision
The Lead Pastor will:
- Serve as the primary preacher and teacher, communicating Biblical truth with clarity, conviction, and relevance.
- Develop and communicate preaching series and weekend themes in advance to the office, worship, and video tech teams.
- Lead and cast vision for the church in partnership with the Elders.
- Equip and encourage others to use their gifts in ministry rather than carrying all responsibilities alone.
Evangelism & Discipleship
The Lead Pastor will:
- Be passionate about evangelism and lead the church in reaching the lost locally and globally.
- Champion a culture of discipleship, with a particular heart for younger adults and emerging leaders.
- Invest personally in mentoring and developing future leaders within the church
Pastoral Care & Community
The Lead Pastor will:
- Share in pastoral care, walking alongside people in times of need through prayer, counsel, and encouragement.
- Empower other pastors, elders, and ministry leaders to carry pastoral responsibilities as part of a team.
- Be actively involved in a small group, modeling relational discipleship and developing new leaders.
Leadership & Administration
The Lead Pastor will need to:
- Cast a vision for the most creative and effective use of the new facility for ministry and outreach.
- Oversee the church staff, providing leadership, encouragement, accountability, and direction.
- Work collaboratively with the Elders on decisions impacting the direction of the church.
- Practice the highest of integrity in the oversight and expenditures of the church budget.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible or a ministry related field (A Masters degree would be a plus).
- Have the support of his family for leadership at home and in the life of the church.
- Have gifts in preaching, leadership, and evangelism/discipleship.
- Have at least 5 years of experience serving as a lead pastor.
- Love God deeply and lead from spiritual overflow.
- Build teams and develop leaders.
- Be comfortable sharing leadership while providing clear direction.
- Have a heart for people both inside and outside the church.
